Appointment & Fees

My fee for a fifty minute session is $140 in cash, check, or by credit card.  Adjustment of the fee is possible by discussion and agreement.

If you want your insurance to help pay for my services I prefer that you bill them.  I will provide an invoice you can submit for payment.  Or I can bill your insurance and the payments will go to you.  I will not keep track of insurance payments.  I am not obligated to any insurance company to take their payment as full payment.  I will bill you for the amount we have agreed upon at the beginning of each month for the previous month.  So your cost is what you pay me minus what you receive from your insurance.

The frequency with which we meet is important to consider and discuss to find the right amount of contact with the issues so that meaningful change can take place.  I have found that for most people one session per week is the least amount of contact for progress.  Consistent week to week appointments at the same time establishes a rhythm that is best. 

I charge for missed sessions unless I receive 72 hours (3 days) notice.  I do this because in my work with people what often comes up is an old instinctual tendency to protect oneself from loss by pulling away from the close intimate work.  It is important that this comes up so it can be understood and worked with rather than acted out.

My cancellation policy for people in psychoanalytic treatment (3 or 4 times per week) is different and will be explained in person.
